Make Your Curb Appeal Pop This Winter

Now that it’s wintertime, real estate transactions will have slowed down. Although homes may not be selling as quickly or frequently as they were in recent months, that doesn’t mean that you should abandon your curb appeal and wait again until spring. Oftentimes, buyers will use the winter months to explore what’s still on the market. Sellers will have less competition and may receive some offers worth considering. For this reason, you’re going to want your home to stand out among the others in your neighbourhood. After all, the winter landscape can create a magical backdrop for strategically placed decor.

In this blog, we’ll cover a few key tips for keeping your home and property in tip top shape throughout the winter season.

Put a focus on your front lawn and porch spaces.

When it comes to curb appeal, the most important focal points are your front lawn and porch spaces. This is because it’s the first impression given by your home to potential buyers and anyone passing by. Make prominent use of greenery and cold-weather plants on your porch space to freshen things up. Decorate with textured fabrics and wooden pieces, as it will create a cozy, inviting atmosphere that welcomes visitors inside. Remember to keep your driveway and walkway clear, as it will demonstrate that the property and home are both well kept. Consider adding an eye-catching rug to your front step, as it can be a small detail that goes a long way.

Use bright colours.

You’re going to want to make use of vibrant colours in order to stand out. If you’re stuck on a colour scheme, consider choosing a focal colour for your decor. Try bright reds and dark greens to match any browns, beiges and greenery you’ve included. Make sure that it matches your new or existing door colour, as you don’t want to create a messy or experimental look when you’re trying to sell. Also consider applying a fresh coat of paint to your front door. This could either be the same colour as before, or maybe something new entirely. No matter which, it can really brighten up the space and catch the eye of anyone passing by.

Plan your outdoor lighting.

Make sure to create a master plan of your outdoor lighting setup before installation. Explore what’s available on the market, as you’ll find there’s a suitable variety to fit any home. Your outdoor lighting can go far beyond traditional string lights. Consider using differently coloured bulbs and strategically placed spot lighting to create a nighttime winter wonderland. Remember that you can use assorted lighting to decorate more than just your home. Consider installing lights in your unused garden spaces and around any structures you may have in your front yard, such as a lamp post or mailbox.
