Going eco-friendly can seem intimidating at first, but in reality, it’s far from difficult. All it really requires is time, effort, and a couple of worthwhile investments. Unsure of where or how to start? We’ve got you covered with some of the easiest eco-friendly house solutions!

Climate change is no secret. Every time we turn on the news or weather a new storm we are reminded of how rapidly the environment is changing, and the consequences that we face as a result. Fortunately, there are many ways to change your habits to be more environmentally conscious in day-to-day life.

For homeowners, perhaps one of the best and most straightforward ways to show your appreciation towards the environment is by exercising eco-friendly practices in the home. Alternatively, becoming more eco-friendly is also an excellent way to increase the value of your property and decrease the amount you spend on your monthly bills. With a few simple updates and a bit of mindfulness, transforming your home into an eco-friendly abode is nowhere near as difficult as you might think, and as a potential benefit, what you spend on upgrades you may make up for in what you are able to save.

Lucky for us, finding and incorporating eco-friendly house solutions is not as daunting of a task as one might think. In fact, there are many simple ways to do so. Here are some eco-friendly solutions you can implement into your home and do your part as a responsible homeowner and mindful citizen!

Swap Light Bulbs

Most households use incandescent light bulbs, however, they are not exactly energy-efficient. A good substitution for incandescent light bulbs are LED light bulbs. A lot of households are gravitating towards LED bulbs as they are roughly 75% more energy-efficient than incandescent light bulbs. They also have a greater lifespan, similar light emission to incandescent bulbs, and are overall a worthwhile investment in the long run. The next time that your regular light bulbs are running out, be sure to look into LEDs as your next-level, eco-friendly replacement.

Upgrade Appliances to be Energy-Efficient

From kitchen appliances to laundry machines, household appliances account for a good amount of your household’s energy consumption. Replacing your current appliances with ENERGY STAR® certified appliances is a tried-and-true way to be more energy efficient. In hindsight, the expensive investment is ultimately worth it, especially if you’re in need of an appliance upgrade already!

Install a Smart Thermostat

If you’re searching for a more convenient way to adjust the temperature of your home, a smart thermostat is a great investment. Compared to a regular thermostat, there are a lot more opportunities for personalization and customization, such as: a phone-controlled remote, scheduling, environment adaptability, and more. Optimal use of a smart thermostat is sure to save you some money in the long run.

Install Energy-Efficient Windows

The main goal of an energy-efficient window is to prevent air (heated or cooled) from escaping your home. They’re designed to save you a heap of money every year, however, some homes benefit from this more than others. Talk to a specialist or contractor and be sure to do your research before installing your new windows, to ensure that you are choosing the right solution for your house.

Clean With Natural Cleaning Products

Generally, store-bought cleaning supplies can negatively impact the environment, especially due to harmful chemicals. Luckily, there are many ways to keep your house squeaky clean while being environmentally-conscious. When you’re out shopping for cleaning products, keep an eye out for non-toxic and biodegradable supplies. However, if you can’t seem to find something that works for you, you can always make cleaning solutions at home! Not only do you get to control what goes into the solution, but you can also adapt it to your own needs.

Everyone can benefit from a more eco-friendly home, and there are countless ways to do so. All it really takes is a bit of effort into researching the best products for your house and for your family. Fortunately, this is an upgrade that has many more benefits than downfalls. So, what are you waiting for? There is no better time than the present to get eco-friendly at home.
